HOME STAGING THE YARD
Staging the yard is necessary, to add curb appeal to your home. Staging the yard works the same as staging rooms inside the house – just consider your yard as another room.
The colours of your home’s exterior should blend well with the natural colours of the landscape, not clash. Try to keep the colour combinations to three. The mail box should match the house colours, as should the house numbers. Adding brightly-coloured planters will help, just keep within the same three colours of the house.
An outdoor patio is also a great area to stage, as an awesome space for entertaining. The colours can be bolder than inside the house, as it’s an open space. If the furnishings or covers look weather-worn, consider replacing them. If the barbeque has seen better days, remove it or replace it.
If you don’t have a patio or deck, but do have a porch, you can add appeal by purchasing a bistro-style table and chairs. This will stage your porch to look like an inviting place to do breakfast, lunch or a coffee break.
Stage your gardens by adding strong-coloured flowers with fresh mulch. Trim overgrown bushes, or replace with smaller ones. Keep the lawn fertilized and trimmed. A lush, green lawn is most appealing, compared to a lawn that is overgrown & has brown areas.
A bench placed near the gardens helps to stage the yard by encouraging buyers to focus on the quality of this outdoor space.
