Staging Home to Sell? Make sure to landscape!


When staging home for sale, not only is the inside important but what potential buyers see on the outside is just as important and that includes landscaping.

First impressions are very important and when you prepare house to sell you need to consider what the outside is saying and most of that is landscaping.  If buyers don’t like the outside of your house they may not even go inside.

Here are a few things to consider with your landscaping.

Plan ahead, if you know you are selling then you should be working on your landscaping well before you put your house on the market.  The first place to start is cleaning up the yard, remove dead branches, weeds, trim bushes and fix anything that is broken.

You want to make your house look good, so have blooming plants near the front door, make sure the lawn is mowed and in good condition.

In the backyard, people like a comfortable spot to hang out, so make sure your deck and patio are clean and well maintained.  As for the furniture it should look in good condition.  There are inexpensive ways to dress things up.

Consider buying or renting a power washer to clean paved surfaces. The effort takes little time and effort and helps to make dirty, grimy surfaces look brand new again. Power washers also do a great job of cleaning fences, as well as brick and vinyl siding.

Don’t get carried away fixing up a yard to look good for buyers. Don't waste money buying all mature plants. Spend money where it’s needed.
